WSDD 2018 Information for Qualifying Combinations
Congratulations if you have qualified for the 2018 WSDD Championships at Kings Sedgemoor EC on Sunday 28th October, which are being run by West Somerset Riding Club.
Please read the information below carefully. To ensure we have a successful event, we would like to be sure that the maximum number of eligible qualified combinations do compete at the championships, so please read the information below and email email@example.com if you have no intention of attending or are ineligible. Dates of known WSDD qualifiers can be found on the diary. If you have any queries please get in touch.
To be eligible, riders must be a current member of one of the following clubs at the time of qualification; Blackdown Hills Riding Club, Exeter and District Riding Club, Ilfracombe and District Riding Club, North Devon Riding Club, Quantock Riding Club, Sid and Otter Valley Riding Club, West Somerset Riding Club and Witheridge Riding Club. Horses and ponies in the Preliminary class must not have won any British Dressage points (BD Prelim points do NOT count) and in the Novice class the restriction is 124 BD points, at close of entries to the WSDD Championships. In addition, combinations are not allowed to compete at the same level or below if they have been WSDD Champion or Reserve Champion or placed 1st – 6th individually at any BRC National Dressage Championship before qualification.
There will also be an Elementary Class. This is open to all members of participating clubs, providing the horse has less than 199 BD points at close of entries to the competition, has not competed at Medium level or above and satisfies the criteria in the paragraph above.
Riders may ride more than one pony / horse in a championship class, provided they meet the eligibility criteria and, for Prelim and Novice, have qualified to do so. Substitutions of pony / horse may only be made in any class at the discretion of the Organiser. Should a rider qualify the same pony / horse for both the Prelim and Novice Championships, they must choose one championship to compete in, but may also compete in non championship classes at Prelim, Novice and Elementary level.
If there are sufficient entries, rosettes from 1st – 6th will be awarded to juniors in the Prelim Championship Class. There will also be a rosette in each championship class for the highest placed ex racehorse with a current ROR number.
Non qualified combinations from participating clubs may also compete in non championship classes.
Sashes and training grants will be awarded to the winners of each championship, plus lots of other kindly donated prizes. Full details will be in the schedule which will be circulated as soon as the list is finalised. If you are successful on the day and win a training grant, you will be contacted for details of your chosen trainer after the event. The grant will be paid directly to your trainer.
The West Somerset Riding Club Committee hope you will support the day, which aims to give members of participating clubs the chance to compete against each other at a friendly championship event.
Profits from the event and proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Dorset & Somerset and Devon Air Ambulance Services.
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT WILL BE RUN UNDER BRC RULES 2018 FOR TACK & DRESS – IT IS UP TO THE COMPETITOR TO MAKE SURE THEY COMPLY. THE 2018 RULE BOOK IS AVAILABLE ONLINE – ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK BEFORE YOU COMPETE
