West Somerset Riding Club is a friendly, active BRC Affiliated Club which has been in existence for more than 40 years. We have a membership comprising Seniors, Juniors (age 10-17) and Non-Riding Members.
Our membership is drawn from a large area ranging from Oare in the West to Kilve in the East and from Minehead in the North to Dulverton in the South. Most of the Exmoor National Park also lies within the West Somerset Riding Club Area.
We aim to encourage members of all ages and abilities, in all riding club disciplines, and try to offer something for everyone. Our members represent us at grassroots “Rising Stars” events as well as at Area 12 & National Levels.
Our comprehensive training programme is at the heart of our activities, with jumping and flatwork clinics held most weekends throughout the year, as well as cross country training at local venues. The club has its own set of Jump 4 Joy show jumps and dressage arena boards which are used for training as well as for competitions.
In addition we aim to run open dressage shows, “Rising Stars” inter-club team competitions, a Dressage For Life event in support of Cancer Research UK, a Sunflower Showing Show in support of St Margaret’s Hospice and much more. West Somerset Riding Club also host the popular West Somerset and Devon Dressage Championships.
There are also opportunities to take part in endurance riding, pleasure rides and horsey socials whenever we can fit them in.
The club is run by a cheerful and approachable (we hope!) committee, and we are always keen to hear your ideas for events and socials.
We look forward to meeting you!
